Admissions

 

Scholarships

  • A $250 physicians scholarship is also available to assist the students with the rising costs of books

 

Curriculum

  • Athletic Training Practicum I
  • Nutrition in Exercise and Sport
  • Advanced Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries (Lab)
  • Personal/Community Health
  • Taping and Bandaging of Athletic Injuries

 

State Licensing Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in related field from an accredited college or university
  • 1800 clock-hours of student athletic training completed during at least five fall and/or spring semesters
  • Current certification in standard first aid and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Successful completion of the Texas Athletic Trainers Written Examination and the Texas Athletic Trainers Practical Examination

 

National Certification Requirements

  • Proof of graduation at the baccalaureate level from an accredited college or university
  • Accumulation of 1500 hours of athletic training experience under the supervision of an NATABOC certified athletic trainer in an accredited curriculum

 

Sports

  • Tyler Junior College offers many sports including football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, baseball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf, softball, cheerleading, and the Apache Belles.
