Bio

Jasmine M. Johnson is in her second year with Tyler Junior College Women’s basketball program. Previously holding positions as an Assistant Coach at Ranger College (2021-2022), Head Coach at Bishop Dunne Catholic School (2015-2019), Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Logan County High School (2013-2014). While attending these varies schools she helped Student athletes received scholarships to College and Universities.

 

Coach Johnson started her list of achievements at DeSoto High School where she helped lead her team in three winning seasons, with a total of 108 wins and 10 losses. DeSoto High was District Champions all 4 years in 8-5A and ranked top 5 in the state of Texas. During her senior year at DeSoto, Johnson had the most double/doubles with blocked shots and rebounds in school history. Coach Johnson leadership assisted DeSoto High School with a 39-2 record season, which earned them their first appearance in the 8-5A girls State Championship game.

Johnson was McDonald All American and the first Black female to become 2008 Christian Athlete of year. After graduating DeSoto High School in 2008, Johnson received a full scholarship to further her education at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As a student athlete she excelled in her talents and currently is in the record books for top 10 shot blocker in the school history. In her last two seasons Johnson was Team Captain and was awarded the Leadership awards. Her team won the East Division and went on to her first conference Championship game in 2011. This led the team to the WNIT tournament. 

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in 2012 in Health Care Administration and is currently pursuing her master’s in Sports Administration.  

Johnson is a DeSoto, Texas native and currently resides in Tyler, Texas.
