Bio

Mike Marquis has been at the helm of the Tyler program as head coach since 2001.  Prior to joining Tyler in the fall of 2001, Marquis was head coach at NJCAA school Indian Hills(Iowa) where he had a 60-10 overall record from 1999-2001.  Marquis served one year as a associate head coach for the Warriors before coming head coach.  Before his stint at Indian Hills, Marquis was the head coach at Marshalltown where he had an overall record of 235-106.  A graduate of Newton(Iowa) High School, Marquis played college basketball at Marshalltown Community College and Grand View University(Iowa) where he obtained a degree in English.

In the 2017-18 season, the Apache team earned an NJCAA National D1 Men's Basketball Tournament berth after winning the NJCAA Region 14 tournament, going 26-7.  

Tyler Junior College's 67-50 win over Paris Junior College on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Wagstaff Gymnasium marked the 700th career victory for head coach Marquis.
