North Carolina Duo Powers Apaches to 85-66 Win Over Coastal Bend

BEEVILLE, TX— It was the North Carolina connection that led the Apaches on Saturday as Raleigh's Chris Uwayo Jr. and Durham's Caden Bell each scored 17 points as TJC scored an 85-66 basketball win over Coastal Bend at CBC Gym.

Tyler Junior College improved to 15-12 overall and 9-10 in Region XIV Conference. The Cougars fell to 9-18 and 4-15.

Three other Apaches were in double figures — Joey Brown (12), Zander Frazier (11) and Josiah Hill (10).

Others scoring for TJC were Jeremiah Lewis (9), Luis Gil (7) and Ahmed Jwao (2).

Connecting on 3-pointers for Tyler were Lewis (3), Frazier (3), Uwayo (2), Bell (1), Brown (1) and Gil (1).

The Apaches were 14 of 19 at the free throw line.

Keagan Moncrief led the Cougars with 22 points, followed by Demar Burton (12) and Jordan Lambert (10).

Hitting 3-pointers were Lambert (1), Burton (1), Quinton Hairston (1) and Cam'Ron Pierre (1).

Coastal Bend was 10 of 14 at the charity stripe.

TJC returns to play on Wednesday, hosting Trinity Valley at 7:30 p.m. Coastal Bend visits Angelina at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
