PARIS — The Apaches tried to rally in the second half, but could not overcome Paris Junior College's first-half lead on Wednesday in a Region XIV men's basketball game.

The Dragons defeated Tyler Junior College 62-57.

PJC led 38-28 at halftime.

Dariyus Woodson led the Apaches with 20 points, including hitting four 3-pointers. Also scoring for TJC were BJ Hooper Jr. (8), Jonah Nesmith (8), Jermontae Hill (7), JJ Louden (4), Brandon Walker (4), Sammon Johnson (3) and Hudson Anderson (3).

Johnson also hit a 3-pointer.

Kordrick Turner led the Dragons with 19 points.

In other men's games on Wednesday: Lee 82, Coastal Bend 80; Navarro 67, Kilgore 65; Blinn 75, Angelina 66; Trinity Valley 69, Bossier Parish 56; and Lamar State-Port Arthur 82, Jacksonville 71.

The TJC teams are home on Saturday as both are playing host to Panola College. The women's game is set for 2 p.m. and the men will play at 4 p.m. The Ponies are 23-5 and 14-3.

Other games on Saturday include: Houston Community College at Lamar State-Port Arthur (13-14, 6-12), 2 p.m.; Paris at Trinity Valley (22-6, 13-4), 2 p.m.; Bossier Parish (12-16, 5-12) at Navarro (16-11, 9-8), 4 p.m.; Blinn (21-7, 12-5) at Jacksonville (8-20, 2-15), 4 p.m.; Victoria (6-20, 3-14) at Lee (25-3, 16-2), 4 p.m.; and Coastal Bend (15-13, 6-11) at Jacksonville (8-20, 2-15), 6 p.m. Kilgore (21-8, 11-7) has a bye.
