KILGORE — Kilgore College hit 19 3-pointers, including six apiece from Cahmai Crosby and Jamil Muttlib, as the Rangers scored a 97-74 in over rival Tyler Junior College in a Region XIV basketball game on Wednesday at Masters Gymnasium.

The Rangers improve to 21-6 overall and 11-5 in conference. The Apaches fall to 15-11 and 7-9.

Muttlib, a 6-6 sophomore guard from Houston, had a game-high 28 points. He was followed by Crosby, a 6-4 freshman guard from Kansas City, Kansas, with 24 points.

Muttlib was 6 of 13 from 3-point and Crosby 6 of 10.

Kilgore took a 54-41 first-half lead as the Rangers shot 52% from long distance. For the game, KC was 19 of 39 from three-point land for 49%.

TJC, sparked by Dariyus Woodson, stayed closed in the first half, but could not overcome the early Kilgore lead.

Woodson, a 6-7 sophomore from Baytown, was 7 of 8 from 3-point in the first half and 8 of 11 for the game. He scored 26 points.

Others scoring for Tyler were BJ Hooper Jr. (17), Hudson Anderson (11), Jonah Nesmith (9), Brandon Walker (6), Jacyn Jones-Taylor (3) and Jermontae Hill (2).

Also scoring for KC were Peter McKey (12), Jamir Turner (10), Willie Williams (6), Thomas Hattaway (6), James Matthews (4), KC Udolisa (3), Kaleb Pouncy (2) and Ike Nwaobi (2).

Williams led with seven rebounds and Muttlib had five boards.

Hill and JJ Louden led the Apaches with six rebounds each, while Nesmith had five and Jones-Taylor, Woodson and Anderson added four apiece.

The Apaches were 8 of 17 from 3-point with Woodson making all eight. They were 14 of 23 from the free throw line.

Others hitting treys for the Rangers were McKey (4), Hattaway (2) and Udolisa (1).

KC was 10 of 15 at the free throw line.

The Apaches return to play on Saturday, hosting Bossier Parish Community College (11-15, 4-11) in a 4 p.m. game at Wagstaff Gymnasium. It is the second game of a doubleheader as the Apache Ladies meet Angelina at 2 p.m.

The Rangers also play Saturday, traveling to Athens to meet Trinity Valley (20-6, 11-4) in a 4 p.m. contest.

In other men's games on Wednesday: Navarro 77, TVCC 72 (OT); Panola 67, Bossier Parish 64; Kilgore 97, Tyler 74; Lee 86, Lamar State-Port Arthur 67; and Blinn 88, Victoria 71. On Tuesday, Angelina 64, Jacksonville 51.
