Bio
Cassandra “Cass” Harvey begins her first season as an Assistant Coach for Tyler Junior College Women’s Basketball Program in August 2024.
Cass moved to Tyler after spending the 2023-2024 season as a volunteer assistant coach with Temple College Women’s Basketball Program. She worked primarily with the post players and was responsible for the entire strength and conditioning program. Also, assisting with recruiting high school seniors, and conducting film and statistical reports for scouting.
Cass was previously an athletic sports performance intern with The University of Texas in Austin Women’s Basketball Program. In her time at UT, she was responsible for cleanliness, set up and tear down of weight training equipment, providing positive and motivational support to student-athletes, observed injured and hurt athletes return-to-play training programs, monitored proper exercise mechanics, and ensured safety and effectiveness in application of exercises.
Prior to that, Cass spent 15 years in the United States Army as an Ammunition Specialist. She was assigned to Germany; Fort Stewart, Georgia; South Korea; The National Training Center, California, Destin, Florida; and Fort Drum, New York. She deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during “The Surge” and would go on to deploy 3 more times to multiple hazardous locations in support of other combat campaigns against the war on terror. Cass has contributed over 10,000 hours of volunteer service in various communities and utilized military basketball as a player and coach, furthermore, extending her coaching capabilities to child youth sports programs as a 3-sport coach while being an active-duty service member. In September 2022, she started her transition out of the Army and used the Career Skills Program to intern with the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Team; the Army’s investment in improving readiness and lethality, while optimizing physical and non-physical performance.
Cass earned her bachelor’s degree in applied management and her master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on sports business from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
Cass is a native of Houston, Texas, where she played guard for 3 years at Cypress Falls and finished her high school career at Langham Creek High School where she graduated.
