Apaches Rally Past No. 18 McLennan for Thrilling 8-7 Win in 12 Innings

Troy Johnson was hit by a pitch, forcing in Dalton Wilson as the TJC Apaches rallied from a six-run deficit to earn an 8-7 win over No. 18 McLennan on Monday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.
Tyler Junior College moved to 17-12 and the Highlanders fell to 15-8.
The Apaches have a three-game Region XIV Conference series with Paris this week, traveling to Paris for a single game on Wednesday (1 p.m.) and hosting the Dragons in a doubleheader on Saturday (1 and 3:30 p.m.).
In the bottom of the 12th, Micah Roberts led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Wilson was intentionally walked and moved to second on Josiah Mackey's single.
Roberts was out at home on a fielder's choice, but Wilson then scored as Johnson was HBP.
Zack Zavala hit a solo homer for the Apaches with Sawyer Dunagan hitting a triple. Joining Roberts with doubles were Landry Stamps, Preston Newberry and Johnson.
The Apaches had 15 hits with two each by Zavala, Lathan Van Ausdall, Roberts, Wilson and Mackey. Adding singles were Chase Fuentes and Preston Newberry.
Johnson had two RBIs. Other RBIs were from Zavala, Van Ausdall, Stamps, Wilson, Newberry and Dunagan.
Trevor Breaux was the ninth Apache pitcher, going four innings and getting the win. He allowed no runs on one hit with one walk and five strikeouts.
McClane Helton and Walker Freeman had doubles for the Highlanders. Helton and Sherman Johnson each had three hits. Daniel Harden and Deiten Lachance had two hits apiece.
