Apache Baseball: Tough Series Loss to Bossier Parish

The TJC Apache baseball team faced a tough challenge in their two-game series against Bossier Parish over the weekend. Despite a promising start in the first game, the Apaches couldn't carry the momentum into the second game, ultimately losing the series 2-0.

Game 1: Bossier Parish Wins 4-3

In the opening game of the series, TJC fell to Bossier Parish Community College by a score of 4-3 in a tight battle.

The Apaches jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Landry Stamps hit a two-run homer, bringing Zack Zavala home. However, Bossier Parish responded quickly, with Dylan Biddick hitting a solo homer in the first inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. By the third inning, Bossier Parish had gained the lead, scoring three runs thanks to a two-run triple by Biddick and an additional run on a wild play.

TJC had a moment of hope in the fourth inning when James Raecek tripled to drive in Micah Roberts, tying the game at 3-3. But it was Bossier Parish's Daniel Pinkerton who ultimately gave his team the lead for good, hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. Despite a strong pitching effort from Luke Devasher, who came in for relief and kept Bossier Parish scoreless over 1.2 innings, the Apaches couldn't put together a late rally.

TJC's offense struggled to generate consistent runs, leaving seven runners on base. Landon Fuller took the loss for the Apaches, giving up four earned runs in 4.1 innings. Ben McKinnon earned the win for Bossier Parish, throwing 5.2 solid innings and striking out six.

Game 2: Bossier Parish Wins 4-0

In the second game of the series, TJC struggled to get anything going offensively, losing 4-0 to Bossier Parish. Despite a solid performance from the pitching staff, the Apaches were shut out, managing only five hits in the game.

Bossier Parish struck first in the third inning with a two-run single from Hayden Stringfellow, followed by another run in the fourth inning on a groundout by Gianluca Montanaro, making it 3-0. The final blow came in the eighth inning when a fielding error allowed another run to cross the plate, giving Bossier Parish a 4-0 lead.

TJC's batters were stymied by Bossier Parish's pitcher, Garett Blanchard, who threw seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits and striking out nine. Jake Skelly earned the save with two scoreless innings in relief.

The Apaches couldn't get much going against Blanchard and Skelly, leaving nine runners on base. Will Patterson took the loss for TJC, allowing three earned runs over five innings. Trevor Breaux was solid in relief, but it wasn't enough to overcome the offensive struggles.

Key Performances Game 2:

The Apaches were unable to capitalize on key moments and couldn't string together enough offense in either game, leading to a tough series loss. After a close first game, they failed to respond in game two, falling short in a 4-0 shutout. The team is looking to bounce back for their home Angelina series this Wednesday at 1 and 3:30 pm.
