Bio

A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Young enjoyed one of the most decorated basketball careers in state history. She competed at Evangel Christian Academy and Walker High School, scoring over 4,000 career points and earning more than 20 Division I scholarship offers. Her high school résumé includes multiple District MVP honors and a historic senior season highlighted by being named Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, Miss Louisiana Basketball, LSWA 5A Player of the Year, LHSBCA MVP, and All-USA Louisiana Player of the Year.

At the collegiate level, Young played Division I basketball at Louisiana State University for two seasons before transferring to the University of Houston, where she spent two years and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration. She later competed at Southern Methodist University, continuing her success at the highest level. During her college career, she was recognized as the AAC Sixth Player of the Year (2022–23) and earned All-AAC Second Team honors (2023–24).

Young also brings international playing experience, having spent a season overseas in Ermesinde, Portugal, further broadening her basketball knowledge and perspective.

As a coach, Young combines her extensive playing background with a passion for mentorship, skill development, and competitive excellence, providing valuable leadership and insight to TJC student-athletes both on and off the court.
