Bio
Preston Caldwell joined Tyler Junior College (TJC) as the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in August of 2024.
A native of Baton Rouge, LA, Caldwell comes to TJC after spending the previous two years as Assistant Athletic Director of Operations at Seward County Community College (SCCC) in Liberal, KS, where his responsibilities pertained to the internal and external operations of the athletic department. As such, Caldwell was in charge of NJCAA eligibility, budget management and department fundraising.
Caldwell also served as a game administrator, as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and as an Adjunct Professor in the business college at SCCC. He was an active member of the Liberal Kiwanis Club, the Liberal Chamber of Commerce and served as Vice President of the Liberal BeeJays Baseball Organization.
Prior to joining the staff at SCCC, Caldwell earned his master’s degree in Recreation and Sports management at the University of Arkansas. While at the University of Arkansas, he held a position in Event Services where as an Event Coordinator he managed 20-30 daily events, ranging from small attended events to large scale multi-departmental events with attendances over 2,500 guests.
Caldwell earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration from Louisiana State University (LSU). While at LSU, Caldwell served as the Marketing Intern for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association where he managed their social media presence with over 35,000 followers across Facebook, Twitter (X) and Instagram.
Caldwell got his start in collegiate athletics as an intern in 2014 at the University of West Florida under Head Football Coach Pete Shinnick.
