TJC falls to 14-7 on the season and 6-4 in Region XIV. BPCC improves to 9-12 and 3-7.

Sammon Johnson hit a 25-footer that would have tied the game and forced overtime, but the officials ruled he did not get the shot off in time and the Apaches lost 75-72 to the Cavaliers.

Jermontae Hill led the Apaches with 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Others scoring for Tyler were Jonah Newsmith (12), JJ Louden (11), Johnson (10), Dariyus Woodson (10), Hudson Anderson (7), BJ Hooper Jr. (5), Jacyn Jones-Taylor (2) and Brandon Walker (2).

Hooper, Johnson, Louden and Hill all hit 3-pointers.

Woodson added six rebounds with Anderson and Louden five boards each. Walker had four. Anderson had five assists.

John Awoke led the Cavaliers with 19 points, followed by Nicholas Kaigler (17), X'Zaevion Barnett (14) and Jahlil Bethea (11).

The Apaches had a 12-point lead in the second half twice, but BPCC rallied.

TJC was 20 of 26 at the free throw line.

On Tuesday, Jacksonville College defeated Strenght N' Motion, 91-77, in a non-conference.

In other games on Wednesday: Kilgore 99, Trinity Valley 83; Angelina 92, Lamar State-Port Arthur 77; Blinn 88, Lee 68; Panola 68, Paris 61; and Coastal Bend 104, Victoria 81.

The Apaches return to play on Saturday, hosting Paris Junior College in a 4 p.m. contest at Wagstaff Gymnasium. The Cavaliers travel to Athens on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest against Trinity Valley Community College.
