No. 2 Apaches sweep Richland

DALLAS The No. 2 Tyler Junior College baseball team played its first road games of the season Wednesday, sweeping Richland College by letting their bats take game one and their pitching take care of game two on the Thunderducks' diamond.

In the first game, TJC rallied for a 7-6 win and in the second game three pitchers threw a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory.

TJC (11-1) returns to play on Saturday, hosting Cedar Valley College at Mike Carter Field. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The Thunderducks suffered their first losses of the season to fall to 7-2. Richland hosts North Arkansas in a doubleheader on Friday.

In the second game, Daylon Farmer (3 innings, 4 strikeouts), Christian Grigsby (1 1/3 innings, 2 strikeouts) and Michael Spinozzi (2 2/3 innings, 3 strikeouts) combined for the no-hitter.

Jacoby Bogue, a sophomore from Van, blasted a home run in the third inning to break the scoreless game. Seth Ballenger and Miguel Vega added singles for the Apaches with Heath Hood scoring a run.

In the first game, TJC rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh for the 7-6 win.

Ballenger's RBI single tied the game and Cade Watson's two-RBI single brought home the winning runs.

Peyton Miller pitched the seventh, allowing one hit and striking out three for the save. Sean Beasley pitched the sixth and struck out one to get the win.

Jacob Johnson had three singles and a run scored with Erick Owen and Ballenger collecting two hits apiece. Owen had two RBIs and one of Ballenger's hits was a triple.

Michael Morissette had a double and an RBI and scored three runs.

Others with hits were Nick Williby, Jacoby Bouge and Miguel Vega. Williby, Bogue and Jaren Burks scored runs and Vega had an RBI.
